The goal of this lecture is to present current research for the analysis and preservation of ancient Greek and Latin historians in a digital environment. In order to show concrete questions and solutions for the implementation of digital approaches in the field of Classical Studies, the lecture will be focused on experiments and results of ongoing projects about ancient Classical historiography and in particular about the so called fragmentary historians, by which scholarship means authors whose works are now lost in their original form and preserved through quotations and reuses in later sources. The lecture will offer the possibility to discuss these topics in the bigger context of the application of digital technologies and Linked Open Data principles to the humanities and to historical studies.
